HOW PUTTOMETER™ WORKS

How it Works

The puttometer is a precision measuring device that will determine the distance a golf ball putted on a carpet would have traveled on a real green. The user just inputs the speed of the green that they wish to train on and the speed of the carpet that they are practising on (the puttometer easily allows the user to determine both green speed and carpet speed). The puttometer allows for green stimpmeter readings ranging from 6 feet to 15 feet and the unit can handle putts of up to 60 feet.

There are 2 playing modes for the golfer to train with, the practice mode and the challenge mode. A description of each of these modes is given below.

Practice mode (Pr 1)

In practice mode the user inputs the green speed and the hole distance that they wish to practice on. For the example shown below the Puttometer was set to a hole distance of 20 feet. The user then putts the ball through the Puttometer. The distance the ball would have traveled on a real green (in this case 19 feet 9 inches) is then displayed and if the putt was successful a green light comes on providing instant feedback. The display then indicates that number of successful putts that have been made in a row (in this example the user has now made 1 successful 20 foot putt in a row). A successful putt is one that would have stopped within 2 feet of the hole for putts 20 feet and under and within 3 feet for putts greater than 20 feet. There is also the option to change what is considered a successful putt from lag (as described above) to past where the ball must reach the hole.

Challenge mode (Ch 2)

In challenge mode the Puttometer indicates to the user the number of 10 foot putts that need to be completed before they can move to the next level. The user then putts the ball through the Puttometer. The distance the ball would have traveled on a real green is then displayed and if the putt was successful a green light comes on providing instant feedback. The display then indicates the number of 10 foot putts that still need to be completed. Once the 10 foot challenge has been met the Puttometer moves up to 15 feet, 20 feet and so on all the way up to 60 feet.
